BANAL PIECES

What is Banal Pieces?

Founded & based in London, banal pieces curates 4 collections per annual, each making up a number of looks and editorials.

each piece collected and sold by banal pieces is sourced specifically for the sake of styling and image making. although a store by default, banal pieces exists with the intention more than anything to create imagery. we feel very strongly that these clothes are wasted being treated as collectable artefacts. they were made to be worn and so will be.

the clothes though, are only ever as important as the model wearing it, how they wear it, as well as the setting they wear it in. and thus; set design, casting, hair/make-up, and everything in between, is heavily considered for banal pieces.

it should also be noted that whilst creating for the contemporary and the future, we are constantly paying homage to the photographers, directors, artists, and designers who came before – with the latter being more predominant, since we’re an archive store at base.

finally, in the images themselves, we don’t look for perfection, rather we strive to create something which conveys emotion and actuality. the imperfections in the model and photograph are what makes it anyway.
