Hedi’s penultimate Dior show followed suit of the ultra slim silhouette he had popularised some few years prior, but while his previous Spring Summer collection (SS06) showcased stylings seemingly fixated on Pete Doherty, this particular season carried subtle aspects of the British musicians who came decades before – that being a continuing hairstyle reminiscent of a 60s mop-top, in some looks paired conjunctively with sunglasses from that same era.

Opening the collection was the trusted all black suit, which would be followed by numerous other desaturated monochrome looks, although touches of beige & khaki continued to pop out in the collection, particularly through safari style pieces such as the button down shirt and trench coat. Hedi continued to impress with the rest of the selection of outerwear, which saw the inevitably sublime leather jackets, kimono tied trench coats, dazzling silver blousons, and Hedi’s trademark razor-sharp blazers. The models all wore black or white sashes underneath, which again showcased Hedi’s pursuit for a new femininity in masculinity, and while the selection of drainpipe bottoms was all gorgeous as ever, it was the silver gladiator sandals which really caught my eye.

Hedi also continued his dear love for the then current London scene, having the Litt’lans produce the soundtrack – a combination of their two songs ‘Chelsea’ and ‘We look good together’, with the latter titling the show. Not only this though, but Hedi also casted Ronnie Joice (Littl’ans fan turned band member) to close the show, walking the runway whilst rattling his signature tambourine. Seeing Joice close the show led Karl Lagerfield to tears, dubbing Joice the ‘Tambourine Angel’. Lagerfields tears, in combination with the then rumours of Hedi leaving the house, as well as the fact that Hedi opted to walk all the way down the runway at the finale, must’ve made his departure seem so inevitable, although it wasn’t until after the following season that he stepped down from his role at Dior Homme.
